General Questions

What is CATX Skies?

CATX Skies is a professional flight tracking application designed specifically for flight simulation enthusiasts. It works with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024 and X-Plane 11/12 to track your flights, analyze performance, and store your aviation journey in the cloud.

Key features include real-time flight tracking, comprehensive analytics, airport database access, and cloud synchronization across all your devices.

Is CATX Skies free to use?

Yes! CATX Skies is completely free to download and use. All core features including flight tracking, analytics, and cloud storage are available at no cost.

We believe in making flight simulation more enjoyable for everyone.

What simulators are supported?

CATX Skies supports:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • X-Plane 11
  • X-Plane 12

You can easily switch between simulators in the application settings.

Installation & Setup

How do I install CATX Skies?

Installation is simple:

  1. Download the installer from our download page
  2. Run the installer (CatxSkiesSetup.exe)
  3. Follow the installation wizard
  4. Launch CATX Skies
  5. Create an account or login
  6. Select your flight simulator

What are the system requirements?
  • OS: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
  • Framework: .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later
  • RAM: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended
  • Storage: 500MB free space
  • Network: Internet connection required
  • Simulator: MSFS 2020/2024 or X-Plane 11/12
Do I need special configuration for X-Plane?

Yes, X-Plane requires UDP data output to be enabled. Here's how:

X-Plane 12:

  1. Settings → Data Output
  2. Enable "Send network data output"
  3. IP Address: 127.0.0.1
  4. Port: 49000
  5. Click Done

X-Plane 11:

  1. Settings → Data Input & Output
  2. Network tab
  3. Enable "Send network data to external apps"
  4. IP: 127.0.0.1, Port: 49000

Using CATX Skies

How do I start tracking a flight?
  1. Start your flight simulator (MSFS or X-Plane)
  2. Load a flight (important: must be in a flight, not just main menu)
  3. Open CATX Skies
  4. Click "Connect to Simulator" button
  5. Navigate to "Flight Tracking" page
  6. Flight data will appear automatically

The map will show your aircraft position, flight trail, and nearby airports.

Why isn't my simulator connecting?

For MSFS:

  • Make sure you're in a flight (not main menu)
  • SimConnect is built-in, no configuration needed
  • Check Windows Firewall isn't blocking the app
  • Try restarting both MSFS and CATX Skies

For X-Plane:

  • Verify UDP output is enabled (see above)
  • Check IP is 127.0.0.1 and port is 49000
  • Make sure you're in a flight
  • Check firewall settings

Can I switch between simulators?

Yes! You can easily switch between MSFS and X-Plane:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Find "Simulator Selection" section
  3. Choose your simulator from dropdown
  4. Click "Save Settings"
  5. Reconnect to your simulator

The switch is instant - no need to restart the application!

Where are my flights stored?

Your flights are stored in two places:

  • Cloud: Synced to our secure servers (PostgreSQL database)
  • Local: Cached on your computer for offline access

This means you can access your flight history from any device where you're logged in!

Account & Privacy

How do I create an account?
  1. Click "Sign Up" on our registration page
  2. Enter a username (3-50 characters)
  3. Provide your email address
  4. Create a strong password (min 8 chars with uppercase, lowercase, number, special char)
  5. Click "Create Account"
  6. Check your email for verification link
  7. Click the link to verify your account

You can now login and start tracking flights!

Is my data secure?

Absolutely! We take security seriously:

  • Passwords: Hashed with Argon2ID (strongest algorithm)
  • Transmission: All data sent over HTTPS (TLS/SSL)
  • Database: Encrypted connections to PostgreSQL
  • Sessions: Fingerprinted and secure cookies
  • Rate Limiting: Protection against brute force attacks

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you have full control over your data:

  1. Login to your account
  2. Go to Account Settings
  3. Scroll to "Danger Zone"
  4. Click "Delete Account"
  5. Confirm your decision

This will permanently delete your account, flight data, and all associated information. This action cannot be undone.

I forgot my password. What do I do?
  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click "Forgot password?"
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Check your email for reset link
  5. Click the link (valid for 30 minutes)
  6. Enter your new password
  7. Login with new password

Not receiving the email? Check your spam folder or contact support.

Technical Issues

The map isn't showing airports or runways

Try these solutions:

  • Zoom in (runways only appear at zoom level 12+)
  • Wait a few seconds for airport data to load
  • Check your internet connection
  • Clear browser cache (if using web version)
  • Restart CATX Skies

Airport data is cached locally after first load for better performance.

The application crashes on startup

Common solutions:

  1. Make sure .NET Framework 4.7.2+ is installed
  2. Run as Administrator (right-click → Run as administrator)
  3. Check Windows Event Viewer for error details
  4. Reinstall CATX Skies
  5. Update Windows to latest version

How do I report a bug?
